2. Scrutiny by the Padma Awards Committee

  • The Padma Awards Committee, constituted by the Prime Minister of India, reviews all nominations.
  • The committee is headed by the Cabinet Secretary and includes eminent persons from different fields.

3. Recommendations

  • The committee shortlists candidates and sends its recommendations to the Prime Minister, who forwards them to the President of India for approval.
